Which type of tumble dryer do I need?
Heat pump dryers
These state-of-the-art energy-efficient appliances use up to 68% less energy than classic condenser dryers.* The intelligent heat pump technology retains and reuses hot air, eliminating the need for a vent and giving you more installation flexibility. *Exemplary Siemens heat pump dryer featuring an EEC: A+++, 8kg, 176kwH /year compared to an exemplary Siemens conventional condenser dryer EEC: B, 8kg, 561kxH /year; calculation based on EU Regulation 392/212.
Condensation dryers
Condenser dryers are ventless appliances that offer generally slightly quicker drying cycles than heat pump dryers. Moisture is extracted through condensation and collected in an easy to empty compartment.

What to consider when buying a tumble dryer.
Heat pump dryers use less energy (up to 66%*) and their lower drying temperature is gentler on fabrics, while condenser dryers are typically more affordable and have a slightly faster drying time. If you do laundry regularly, the lower temperatures and energy efficiency offered by heat pump dryers make them ideal.

To maintain optimal drying performance, it is important to remove fluff from your filter regularly. Typically, this should be done after every cycle. However, thanks to the intelligent cleaning system in Siemens heat pump dryers, our filters only need to be cleaned every twentieth cycle. Condenser dryers should be cleaned approximately once a month, depending on usage.
Siemens smartFinish programme, which uses steam to reduce wrinkles, is ideal for suits, shirts, and blouses. The anti-crease option prevents deep wrinkles from forming in your clothes by rotating the drum after the cycle to gently untangle your laundry.
Total energy consumption depends on the type of dryer as well as how often it is used. While our latest tumble dryers use up to 66% less energy* compared to similar appliances in 2001, the iQ700 heat pump dryer has the highest energy rating and uses just 176 kWh per year, at an average of 160 cycles.

If you don’t have enough space to put a washing machine and dryer next to each other, but you still want the convenience of a tumble dryer, consider opting for stackable appliances. Most front-loading dryers can be stacked on top of a 60 x 60 cm front-loading washing machine. However, a stacking kit may be required. To see if your chosen appliance is stackable, check the product details on our website.
